Before you start: three decisions worth making first
Making these before you draw a number avoids the most common way credits get spent for nothing.
1. Is phone verification actually required on your target platform? Many services register fine by email and only trigger an SMS check later. The service hub groups all 89 covered platforms into mandatory, triggered, and optional. If yours is triggered-only, register by email first.
2. Which country does the platform accept? This matters far more than route quality, and it is the difference between a code arriving and nothing happening at all. Country-locked platforms are listed in the same hub. Price is not part of this decision — every country is 8 credits.
3. Will the platform let you finish? If the flow ends at an identity document, a linked bank account, or a national real-name check, the SMS step will pass and the account still will not open. Better to know before you spend.
The first run, end to end
Account. Email and password. There is no identity verification for receiving codes.
Top-up. Through Stripe. Each verification costs 8 credits, the same for every country, and credits come back automatically when a code does not arrive — so a small first top-up covers several real attempts.
Pick the service. Search for the platform you are verifying. Matching the actual target matters: the platform name selects the routing and inventory profile used for that service.
Pick the country. Where the list is ordered by recent performance, the top is a reasonable default. Override it when your target platform is country-locked, or when you want the number's country to match the region you appear to be browsing from.
Draw the number. You now hold it for about 15 minutes.
Enter it on the target platform. Two things go wrong here more than anything else: the country selector on the target platform not matching the number's country, and pasting the number with the dialling prefix duplicated. Check both before submitting.
Read the code. It appears in your active session as the SMS lands.
Secure the account immediately. Recovery email, strong password, authenticator app. The number is gone in minutes and will not come back to you.
Session states and what they mean
| State | What is happening | What you can do |
|---|---|---|
| Drawn | The number is reserved to your session for about 15 minutes | Enter it on the target platform |
| Waiting | The platform has accepted the number and a code may be in flight | Wait. Do not re-request on the same number |
| Code received | The SMS arrived and is shown in your session | Copy it into the target platform |
| Released | You ended the session, or the window expired | Credits return automatically if no code arrived |
| Cooldown | The number is resting before re-entering the pool | Nothing — you cannot request it again |
The two states people misread are Waiting and Released. Waiting does not mean the code is coming — if the number failed the platform's carrier lookup, nothing was ever dispatched and the wait will not end. Released is not a penalty: it is how the refund happens.
The timing model
- About 15 minutes — how long you hold the number.
- Under a minute, typically — how long a code takes when it is coming at all.
- Immediately on release — when credits return if no code arrived. No minimum balance, no ticket, no waiting period.
The practical implication of the first two figures together: if nothing has arrived after the first couple of minutes, the remaining thirteen rarely change the outcome. Releasing early costs nothing and lets you re-draw on a different country, which changes both the number and the route.
What not to do
Do not press "resend" repeatedly. It repeats the same request over the same route to a number the platform has already scored, and many platforms respond by rate-limiting you for hours.
Do not switch to "call me instead". SMS-Act numbers receive text messages only. Once you take the voice branch, no code will arrive by any means — you have to start over on the SMS channel, or use a local physical number.
Do not plan to reuse the number. There is no rental, no fixed number, no long-term dedicated number and no monthly number. Anything that depends on receiving a second code weeks later needs a real SIM.
Do not expect it to clear KYC. Identity documents, bank links, liveness checks and national real-name systems are separate gates that a phone number does not open.
Service boundaries
- Single-use numbers, roughly a 15-minute window; no rentals or fixed numbers
- Text messages only; numbers do not answer calls
- Receive only; SMS-Act does not send outbound SMS
- No Telegram, no mainland China numbers, no mainland-China-only apps
- Flat 8 credits per attempt across all 160+ countries, 600+ services, Stripe top-up
Frequently asked questions
How many credits does a failed attempt cost? None. The 8 credits return to your account automatically when the session ends without a code.
Can I keep a number for a few days? No. The product is one-time reception only — about 15 minutes per session. If you need a persistent line, an MVNO or eSIM plan is the right category, not this one.
Can I run two verifications at once? Each verification is its own session on its own number. One number cannot serve two accounts, because it is released and recycled after the session.
The code arrived but the platform rejected it. Almost always whitespace or a partial copy. Re-paste it cleanly. If the code has expired on the platform's side, request a new one from within the same session while the number is still held.
